URGENT COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT
EARLY JANUARY 2021 ANTIQUES AUCTION
Having carried out a detailed risk assessment, we have unfortunately decided; with a heavy heart, to postpone our early January Auction that was scheduled to take place on the 8th & 9th of the month. This drastic action is to protect the loyal and very much appreciated people that we rely so heavily upon including The Saleroom Team, our numerous Vendors and Purchasers, their potentially vulnerable relatives and associates, as well as the general population.
It is quite evident that the numbers of cases of Covid-19 in the County of Herefordshire are increasing at a worrisome rate and we are surrounded by areas that are currently in higher tiers. Several of our customers have lived through the effects of the virus and some sadly have not. We will miss them dreadfully. Not everybody that has suffered the effects and the after-effects of Covid-19 is elderly and we are aware that some that have not survived were under 50 years of age or even younger.
Our business is extremely people-orientated and whilst the on-line nature of the sales has been effective, the atmosphere of not having the former throng of personalities present is extremely alien to us. We have been packing and despatching packages to addresses far and wide but some volume of visitors to the saleroom is unavoidable; albeit strictly regulated. Travelling considerable distances; or indeed at all, for non-essential reasons in the current circumstances that we find ourselves in, is certainly unwise. Whilst inoculation appears to be likely to be our saviour from this dreadful disease, now is certainly not the time to lower our guard with potentially fatal results.
The prevailing conditions will be kept under constant review in the hope that the statistics will indicate a notable improvement locally, nationally and indeed internationally.
The salerooms are full to capacity, the lots have been photographed and the catalogue is fully prepared ready for uploading to the internet, so we anxiously look forward to being in the position to reschedule the auction just as soon as we feel that it is safe to do so.
We very much regret that this drastic action has been necessary. We hope and trust that you will all understand the reasons for our very difficult decision and may we wish you all the best for the New Year. May life return to something resembling normality soon.
Although the salerooms and the office will be closed to visitors, we intend to catch up with some of our not-inconsiderable professional work and the telephone will certainly be manned, should you feel that you would like to give us a ring, even just for a friendly chat.
For goodness sake KEEP SAFE.
